Hell you could even climb up and walk along the water channel to the top of the barn. The crank to stop the waterwheel, contrived as ♥♥♥♥ when there's a fence around back that wouldn't be hard to climb over. In this game there is almost always ONE way to go and ONE way to get through. Even if they lead you to the same exit it at least feels like a cohesive, actually used building. In the first hiding feels *correct* more often than not because as you sit in an offshoot room under a bed or w/e before progressing down a hallway or exploring more, it's just worthwhile between the fact that enemies are dumb enough to not check (also make it VERY clear they're entering a room), and that you're often rewarded with loop around or alternate paths which could lead to your point of progression anyway. If I had to put to words the one thing that killed 2 compared to 1 for me, it's level design. This is more of a rant/rambling than a review in reality. This proves the same people worked on both sites.Įither way Im sorry this Review turned out to a comparison between Outlast and Outlast 2 rather than a honest review of the game. Like the mentions of Professor Jenny in outlast 1. Yet it was fun piecing it all together oncee you find the right documents you can get minor clues. You sit there at the end totally confused what really happened. I dislike it because you don't get that progressive understanding of what's really going on like in Outlast 1. In Outlast 1 its mentioned that some effect of the Morphogenic Engine are phantom pregnancies. Thats why they get stronger and stronger over time. They have set up mind control radio towers that emmits frequences. SPOILERS!!!!! its a continuation of the expirements in the Murkoff Facility. This game is obviously in the same universe. A lot of things doesnt make sense in this game. The character is under special circumstances. This game is obviously not a fantasy game. They obviously add that Depth to Blake that was kinda lacking in Miles (Imo Miles was enough for a main character, not as nuanced as Blake however) I love how Blake's psyche constantly gets worse. I think they are good yet can be a little annoying to the gameplay. It's way too unrealistic (Yes ik the story)įor the dream/flashback sequences. The same can't really be applied to To Outlast 2. The reason why Outlast was so good was because of how Gritty and realistic it was in a way. The world is too fantasy (Ik the story and Ik thats its not entirely real). Imo it felt more like the latest Resident Evil games mixed with some other elements. The games atmopshere doesnt feel like outlast. Maybe i'm just missing Chris Walker who knows. Yet it lacks something that makes it seem like the original game. The chase scenes are ofc still there, they are better designed with interesting paths and crawling etc. The camera is done better imo, the map is desgined better (Yet doesn't feel like Outlast imo). Overall the gameplay/mechanics have obviously improved greatly. I'd say the first edition is creepier as it focuses more on the panic scares/chases that makes Outlast such a great horror game. Its pretty cheap and on sale you can get it for a few euros. So I have conflicted views with this game.
